Post-Acquisition Org Unification for Rapid Efficiency Gains
“Without this flexibility from Coastal, we would not have been able to achieve the aggressive timeline.”
Project Stakeholder
When two major organizations merge, it can be complex. One of the biggest challenges is consolidating their data into a single Salesforce system—a process that’s often time-consuming and error-prone.
In this case, two long-established companies were operating on separate Salesforce instances, each with unique data, users, and processes. Following a multi-billion-dollar acquisition, Coastal was brought in to advise and execute the org merge—creating one unified customer journey across all product lines.
Using Coastal’s org merge methodology, we assessed the health of both Salesforce instances and recommended which to use as the master org going forward or rebuild from the ground up.
After careful evaluation, Coastal recommended consolidating onto one instance that best aligned with the organization’s long-term goals. Our team also reviewed more than 100 surrounding systems to determine which tools to retain and which no longer met the needs of the combined enterprise.
We developed a detailed project plan, seamlessly migrated more than 4.5 million records, onboarded 800+ users, and went live with a unified Salesforce instance in just four months.
After the merge of the two Salesforce orgs, Coastal quickly moved to deduplicate system data. This created operational efficiency that reduced manual tasks by 50% in a matter of weeks. Employees were able to use the time saved to focus on critical business needs.

Coastal successfully consolidated the two organizations’ data into a single Salesforce instance following the acquisition—a significant achievement given the scale of data and the need to maintain its integrity.
This consolidation improved efficiency and effectiveness across the combined enterprise by standardizing data and processes. When organizations merge, establishing a single source of truth for customer data is critical to prevent duplication and enable seamless collaboration.

To ensure strong adoption, Coastal provided post-production support—monitoring usage and quickly resolving any issues that arose after deployment.
